Moroccan Parliament Organizes, in Cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a Conference on "Migration and Climate Change: Which Relationship?"

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the framework of the project "Support to the development of the role of the Parliament in consolidating democracy in Morocco 2020-2024," funded by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe, the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe organize a Conference on the occasion of the conclusion of the cooperation project. Held on April 30, 2024 at the Seat of the House of Representatives, the Conference tackles the theme: "Migration and climate change: which relationship?"</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The opening session of the Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami; the Speaker of the House of Councilors, Hon. Enaam Mayara; the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Hon. Theodoros Rousopoulos; and the Ambassador of the European Union to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Patricia Llombart Cussac.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The Conference features the participation of the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucuses, members of the Moroccan Parliament, and members of the PACE's Committee on Migration, Refugees, and Displaced People and the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The debates will cover the relationship between migration and sustainable development, migrants' integration, and the preservation of skillful individuals. The interventions will shed light on the magnitude of the phenomenon in Morocco and Europe and explore avenues to address the present and future challenges posed by climate change. The participants will share Moroccan practice and the Assembly's vision regarding the integration policies and the role of migrant and displaced women in reinforcing migrants' integration.</p>
