Braga: House of Representatives of Kingdom of Morocco Participates in 18th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean

<p style="text-align: justify;">The House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco is taking part in the proceedings of the 18<sup>th</sup> Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on May 15-16, 2024, in Braga, Portugal.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The opening ceremony of the Session featured His Majesty King Mohammed VI being decorated with the Excellence in the Mediterranean Award in recognition of his direct supervision over the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, which provides major services, efforts, and humanitarian aid to Palestinians.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The delegation of the House of Representatives includes:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">- Rep. Mohamed Ihouiyet (Group of the National Rally of Independent); and</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">- Rep. Fedwa Mohcine Hayyani (Haraki Group).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As part of its participation in the proceedings of the Standing Committees, the delegation of the House of Representatives highlighted the leading Moroccan experience in addressing climate change. In this regard, the delegation members shed light on the national strategy to address climate change and the major projects launched with a view to preserving natural resources and transitioning to renewable and green energies.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In the same vein, the Moroccan delegation tackled the policy adopted by the Kingdom to preserve the environment and invest in renewable energies, considered a role model for other countries, particularly in Africa. Such a policy has enabled the Kingdom to achieve several gains in the environmental field through several projects and programs that have reinforced its positioning in this field on the international level.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The reports presented during the Session focused on the priority themes for the countries of the Mediterranean, particularly the political and security developments in the MENA, the increasing threats of terrorism, economic cooperation, the opportunities offered by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and its threats, climate change, and energy transition.</p>
