Speaker of the House of Representatives Represents His Majesty the King in Inauguration Ceremony of New President of the Republic of Guatemala

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Guatemala City, in the inauguration ceremony of the President-Elect of the Republic of Guatemala, H.E. Bernardo Arévalo.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The ceremony took place in the Miguel Ángel Asturias National Theater in Guatemala City in the presence of several Heads of State of the region, Heads of Government, Speakers of Parliaments, and leaders of the delegations representing several world States.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Speaker of the House of Representatives was accompanied during the ceremony by the Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Republic of Guatemala, H.E. Tarik Loujri.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In a statement on the occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami noted that the ceremony was an opportunity to convey the regards and congratulations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to H.E. Bernardo Arévalo upon his election to the Presidency of the Republic of Guatemala. In the same vein, he underscored the readiness of the Kingdom to reinforce the relations linking the two countries at all levels and in various areas.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It should be noted that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had sent a message of congratulations to H.E. Bernardo Arévalo on August 23, 2023, upon his election as President of the Republic of Guatemala.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In his message, His Majesty the King expressed his heartfelt congratulations to H.E. Bernardo Arévalo for the confidence vested in him by the friendly people of Guatemala, as well as his most sincere wishes for success in his mission.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides, the text of His Majesty’s message also reads: “On this occasion, I express to you our esteem in the Kingdom of Morocco for the distinguished friendship bonds linking us with the Republic of Guatemala and for the subsequent development that marks our cooperation in various areas, believing that these relations will grow stronger in a way that serves our peoples good and contributes to reinforcing South-South cooperation and complementarity."</p>
