Speaker of the House of Representatives and Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Explore Means to Consolidate Cooperation between the Two Legislative Institutions

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Seat of the House, with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Hon. Jussi Halla-Aho, currently on a working visit to our country at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During their talks, the two parties explored the means to reinforce bilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions of Morocco and Finland through exchanging visits, sharing experiences and expertise, coordinating, and consulting on questions of mutual concern.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Speaker of the Parliament of Finland noted that his current visit reflects the depth of the strong friendship ties linking Finland and Morocco and will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas. He added that Morocco is a key partner to Finland and the European Union.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides, he stated that the two countries face the same challenges linked to transitioning to renewable energies and preserving the environment. In the same regard, he praised the deep reforms the Kingdom of Morocco has entertained in various fields.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For his part, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami underscored the strength of the friendship bonds uniting Morocco and Finland. In the same respect, he added that the two countries share the same values of democracy, human rights, freedom, and advancing the status of women.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On this occasion, the Speaker of the House gave an overview of the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, in different areas, particularly social protection, health, energy, and the reform of the Family Code. He also shed light on the main political, economic, and social reforms conducted by the Kingdom of Morocco.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland addressed a formal invitation to Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami to perform a working visit to Finland, which would be an opportunity to solidify cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The meeting featured the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco-Finland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Aicha Zelfa; the Ambassador of Finland to Morocco, H.E. Marjaana Sall; and the members of the Finnish parliamentary delegation, MP Joakim Strand and MP Johannes Koskinen.</p>
