Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami Holds High-Level Talks in Budapest

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami began on Thursday, June 9, 2022, a working visit to Budapest at the invitation of his counterpart, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, Mr. László Kövér.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During their talks, the two officials commended the excellent cooperation ties linking the legislative institutions of the two countries, particularly through regular working visits, sustained interaction between the parliamentary friendship groups, and on the basis of the memorandum of understanding concluded between the two institutions in April 2019.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On the same occasion, Mr. Talbi El Alami lauded the position of Hungary regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, stating, “It relies on the centrality of the UN reference system that considers the Moroccan proposal of granting the Kingdom’s Southern provinces a broad autonomy a practical and logical solution.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For his part, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly stressed the strategic role that the Kingdom plays as “a pole of stability in the Maghreb region and a gate to Africa.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Later on the same day, the Speaker of the House of Representatives met with the Hungarian Minister of Finance, Mr. Mihály Varga. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the prospects for consolidating the economic partnership between the two countries based on the 21 areas agreed on during the 4th Joint Commission that convened in Budapest on May 24 -25, 2022.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During these two meetings, the Speaker of the House was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Group of the National Rally of Independents in the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohamed Ghayate, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Hungary, Ms. Karima Kabbaj.</p>
