Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Speaker of the National Council of Switzerland

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Seat of the House, with the Speaker of the National Council of Switzerland, Hon. Eric Nussbaumer, currently on a working visit to our country at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During their talks, attended by the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Guillaume Scheurer, the two parties tackled the consolidation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During the meeting, the Speaker of the Swiss National Council expressed the strong will of the Swiss Parliament to contribute to reinforcing cooperation ties with Morocco, particularly in trade, scientific research, vocational training, renewable energies, and migration. He also noted that the political and economic ties have been highly dynamic since the conclusion of a joint declaration between the two countries in 2021.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On the same occasion, the Speaker of the Swiss National Council renewed his invitation to Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami to perform a working visit to Switzerland to explore the means to promote relations between the two legislative institutions and open new horizons for cooperation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For his part, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami gave an overview of the institutional reforms and major projects conducted by the Kingdom of Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him. He also briefed the Swiss parliamentary delegation on the specifics of the advanced regionalization in the Kingdom of Morocco as stipulated in the 2011 Constitution.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On the same occasion,&nbsp; the Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed the importance of solidifying cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries and sharing experiences and expertise between them in all areas of parliamentary action, particularly in participatory democracy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to the Speaker of the National Council, the Swiss parliamentary delegation also includes the First Deputy Speaker of the Council, MP Maja Riniker (Liberal Party); the Second Deputy Speaker of the House, MP Pierre André Page (Democratic Union of the Center); and the members of the Council: MP Thomas Aeschi (Chairperson-Swiss People’s Group), MP Samuel Bendahan (Chairperson-Social Democrats), MP Philipp Matthias Bregy (Chairperson-Center Group), MP Damien Cottier (Chairperson-Liberals Group), MP Trede Aline (Chairperson-Green Group), and MP Corina Gredig (Chairperson-Green Liberal Group). The Swiss parliamentary delegation also includes the Secretary-General of the National Council, Mr. Philippe Schwab.</p>
