House of Representatives Takes Part in 2024 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development

<p style="text-align: justify;">A delegation of the House of Representatives is taking part in the proceedings of the 2024 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development, organized in Beirut, Lebanon, on March 5-7, 2024, by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia on “Delivering for sustainability and peace.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The delegation of the House of Representatives includes:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Rep. Nadia Touhami (Deputy Speaker – Group of Progress and Socialism);</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">-&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Rep. Hassan Benomar (Deputy Speaker – Group of the National Rally of Independents).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Forum’s proceedings focus on sustainable, flexible, and innovative solutions to reinforce the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, eradicate poverty, and focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and regional priorities like digital cooperation, youth and future generations, gender equality, and green education.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Forum's opening ceremony featured the participation of Najib Mikati, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, and other renowned Arab and international figures. The Forum's plenary sessions and ad hoc meetings witnessed the Moroccan delegation's active participation as they highlighted the Moroccan experience in various fields linked to Sustainable Development.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The delegation of the House of Representatives met with Rola Dashti, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the ESCWA. During the meeting, which was attended by Morocco's Ambassador to Beirut, the parties discussed the various projects the ESCWA is working on in Morocco and noted the distinguished partnership between the organization and several government departments in Morocco.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It should be noted that the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development is the primary regional mechanism to follow and highlight the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan in the Arab World. It is a gathering to discuss the achieved progress, present the national and regional experiences, and monitor the latest developments and mechanisms for implementing the 2030 SDP at the national and regional levels.</p>
